Benefits change over - cost of living payment

Hello!

I have recently swapped over to universals credits from tax credits.

As soon as I registered to universal they stopped my tax credits payments.

I got my notice of new payments today.

However, I'm a bit concerned as the 'cost of living payment' does not apply to be as I was not claiming universal at the time. Will I still get the first payment from tax credits in September as I should have if I did not cancel?

Frustrated with myself as I didn't realise and could have waited, it's a lot of money to miss out on which could have gone onto my gas and electric meters to keep us on!

Hope this makes sense? Thanks

Yes you will likely get the first half of the payment when people on tax credits get it and the second when people on Uc get the second half ( date not announced yet). So you may get the 2 halves quite close together.

I’ve done the same, we get the first payment in the autumn and the 2nd payment later winter.
we’ll be in the same payments as people on tax credits.

Oh thank you! I was worried I would no longer qualify for the tax credits one due to not actually receiving payments from them anymore!

The date of eligibility was to be in receipt of a qualifying benefit on may 25, were you still on tax credits then?
