Very lucky (possibly) - Mat pay Q

I’m just tested positive, and looked up when I would be eligible for mat pay as my salary will change at new year.

I think I’m right in saying that my mat pay for the first 6 weeks will be 90% of the average of what I’m paid in weeks 17-25 of pregnancy.

Those weeks will include when I will (hopefully) be paid my Christmas bonus. If so, will my mat pay be crazy high as it will look like I’m paid that regularly?

looking at the rules I think so, but I’m sure it’s too good to be true.

Yes, you may be eligible for a "bonus" baby, where your bonus is incorporated into the calculation. Every firm seems to have its own way to calculate it however. I did get the bonus baby but my firm worked it based on x number of weeks before I started maternity leave.

Yeah, that's exactly the way my company has worked it out for me. We usually get 12 weeks full basic salary then SMP but they also work out what statutory would be and pay the larger amount of either. So because I got a large quarterly bonus between weeks 17-25 I'm actually better off getting 6 weeks 90% as that's more than 12 weeks of my basic salary!
