Debt management plans

Are they a bad thing?
My debts are really weighing me down now.
I'm cos ordering contacting step change to request to be on a debt management plan but I'm really concerns the log. Term impact this will have in me. IE phone contract, renting a property... 6 years a long time to have it recorded on your file :(
But I just don't know what else to do.

Step change are brilliant, a debt management plan isn't for everyone but contact them and they can take you through everything. Make sure you go with someone like step change and not a company that will make you pay for their services

A debt management plan will affect your credit file but not as much as missed payments or CCJs. If you speak to Stepchange they'll discuss all your options, not just DMPs, and their impacts.
