Mortgage application approval - how long?

First time doing all this! Can anyone tell me roughly how long it takes? We have an offer accepted on a house and have applied for the mortgage. How long does this stage usually take?

We got a AIP straight away but took about 2 weeks for the official offer to come through then a further 4 weeks of checks.

Thank you ☺️ Yes, we got AIP straight away too so just waiting for everything else 🤞🏼 Although having just spoken to our solicitor this morning - we had been led to believe by the estate agents that the sellers had an offer accepted on another property before theirs went on the market so were keen to move quickly which suited us perfectly. Turns out he had his sellers confused with another and ours haven’t even started looking at properties yet so I doubt it’ll be the mortgage company that ends up holding things up 🙄🙄🙄

It really depends on the who the mortgage is with. We had an AIP and the actual offer only took 2 days. My mortgage advisor warned me that Nationwide for example would take quite a while.

@LadyDanburysHat Nationwide is exactly who it is with 😂 guess I’m in for the wait then 🙈

Unfortunately he didn't tell me how long it would be. But also we didn't have an AIP with them, so it would have taken longer because of that.

Not exactly the same, but we have just applied for a remortgage, moving to Nationwide, and it took 12 weeks from application to offer

12 weeks?! 😭 I’m praying ours isn’t anywhere near that long 😬
