Help me get rid of the debt collectors!

Basically, my friend has a contract phone through Carphone Warehouse that's £50 a month. He couldn't afford to pay for it for two months in which they blocked the phone which is understandable. They then had debt collectors ring saying that he had 7 days to pay £200. I helped him out and paid for it himself as he is out of work at the moment and cannot afford that kind of money. Within half an hour his phone was back to working. This was on Saturday.

His phone was all fine until I tried ringing him today when I was told the phone number was not recognised. I tried a few times wondering if I was just being dumb and had the number wrong, but it definietly wasn't working. I managed to get a hold of him who wasn't sure what was going on. He phoned Carphone Warehouse who said that he was a day late with the payment and now has to pay either £200 to get the phone connected or pay £600 to terminate his contract which doesn't end for another 11 months. What's the best thing I can do to advise him? Any help would be gratefully appreciated! Thanks. xx

go to CAB and see if they can see a way out of his contract.
