do places in rome accept the basic NUS totum card as student ID, or does my daighter need to get ISIC (international student card) to get discounts etc?? urgent pls

We were in Rome recently with my 18 and 20 year old. Not quite sure what sort of things you are thinking about but they never showed a student id, just their passport to prove age and nationality. A number of museums etc gave significant discounts for EU students/young people (I can't actually remember who it was for exactly). Those places didn't offer discounts without an EU passport or id.
