Going over overdraft by £1

Hi All , please be gentle . I am off work with anxiety .
Dh is being paid late through an agency due to the long bank holiday . He went over his overdraft limit by £1 . This was for less that one hour . He saw it and then I transferred £100 into his bank account . Will we be in trouble now, or is there a grace period ? Thank you .

They usually give you a grace period , Lloyds do.
Can you phone them ?

You will need to look at the T’s&C’s of the account/overdraft agreement but there will likely be an extra charge. You won’t be in trouble though.

Thank you . I can’t call as not my bank and dh says it will be fine , but I am so anxious about everything .

It’s more being on a credit black list that worries me than a fee. We need to remortgage soon .

If you transfered the money the same working day, and no payments were affected, I think it will be fine.

@newbiename
yes , his account is Lloyds , so that is good to know. It was for such a short time .

My bank texts me telling me I am X amount over what ever limit and to transfer funds by 6pm to stop incuring additional charges. Most of the time it's due to a forgotten about bill that had came out at midnight but they don't text until about 1pm, so chances are there is a period before it is held against you.

Daffodilsdance · 08/06/2022 11:52

@KarrotKake
Thank you . No payments were affected .

Lloyds usually give me until 2pm to transfer when I’ve gone overdrawn. I get a message via the app.

Daffodilsdance · 08/06/2022 12:02

Thank you every one . I am feeling calmer now .

I go over my overdraft all the time. I have till 11pm to sort it. Sometimes I forget and incur a very small charge. It hasn’t affected my credit rating

newbiename · 08/06/2022 12:07

Can you set up a text alert in case it happens again ?

Moonchair1 · 08/06/2022 21:32

I do this a lot if I put it back in same day I don’t get charged
thanks god to notifications haha

CanaryWharf2 · 08/06/2022 21:52

Banks tend to only charge if you are overdrawn at the end of the day. Intra-day shouldn’t count

PlntLady · 08/06/2022 22:25

If they dont give you a grace period and it isnt something that usually happens you can call them an request they look past it on this occasion and refund any charge. I know the co-op did/ used to do this up to a certain amount once every 12 months.
