Another question for potato peelers: what am I aiming for in terms of their minium requirement?
I am month 3 in so trying to be steady and accurate rather than fast but did miss a few weeks and had a warning email last week.

Thanks!

KasabianKat · 13/06/2022 11:54

I have failed the audio test on WWW 3 times now! Can I try again in a few months?! 🙈 I'm scoring 50%, any tips?!

8DPWoah · 13/06/2022 13:40

@KasabianKat am I right in that that's the bit where you have to transcribe a sample audio (so many parts I forget which is which!) If so take real care to research any company names and people as well if there are any, I remember on one of my practise files I mis-spelled a name which I could have got by Google the rough name, job role and company. It wasn't a deal-breaker at all but it was commented on. It might not be that but it's a possibility!

KasabianKat · 13/06/2022 13:50

@8DPWoah it was the bit with 20 questions. You'd have to transcribe a short file. I just didn't understand where I was going wrong!

I’ve just taken this and got 60%, I can only imagine I’m not getting all the punctuation correct.

1000 per month is the min requirement. I’m sure I’ve read it’s a rolling 4 week period, but I’m not certain on that.

On App#n does anyone know if you can work for two projects doing the same thing but I’m guessing for different clients? I’ve been invited for two of the social media evaluating ones but not sure if I can do both at the same time.

DeegeeDee · 13/06/2022 20:35

Thanks Red, that helps me somewhat. Will put in a stint every day then.

Mynameisjune - apply. Lots of the projects don't come to anything. Two similar projects are probably the same one under different banners when it all unwinds.

Thanks I have applied and been accepted onto them both, hopefully their system wouldn’t allow it if it was against the rules.

Thank you, I'm reading the comments with great interest.

Anyone else doing YU*on exam -?I cannot find the exam link just the guidelines ? Where do I look thanks

BecauseOfIndia · 14/06/2022 08:01

@Baby89 You don't get the link until the first day of the exam. If you read the email they sent it explains everything. The link will go to your nominated gmail account.

Hello all!!
I am hoping to join you all, I've been reading through the thread and have signed up to quite a few of the survey sites etc. I've joined appen and applied for everything that I think I can do. I only scored 15 in the crisp test so I won't be allowed to do that!

Can anyone give me any other tips other than keep reading the thread and signing up to as much as I can?

Yep, keep signing up all you see, even the ones you don't think you're capable of and reading @Zincoop, welcome.

You can redo the crisp test until you get the passmark - keep an eye on your answers so you know where you go/went wrong.

Sign up to as many Appen projects as you can, especially any you are invited to sign up to. I logged into Appen for the first time in 2 years on Friday last week. I applied for every project I thought I could do, then got some email invited so applied for them.

I’m now on two search engine evaluator projects and 2 of the weekly survey ones. And that’s in less than a week.

Keep doing the Crisp test until you pass.

If you’re any good at transcription then try Rev or Way with words.

I’ve just failed the WWW test too, I thought I was doing well 😳 went for attempt 2 and my computer crashed and I timed out!

N0va · 14/06/2022 20:20

I've been quiet this month so far but slow and steady....

Even Vinted has been quiet this month.
I've been matched betting. Bit confused how I see all these people on the groups/forums saying they made £500/£600 in a month, I must be going wrong somewhere or not have enough bank roll but all of the ones I do are valued at £8 or less?! Not complaining as it's making me some money but feel I'm going wrong somewhere!

I dug my laptop out and I'm going to hunt for freelance work and check out the links in the opening post that I haven't yet looked at, even if I get on wait lists it's a start.

justalittlebitextra · 14/06/2022 21:41

I failed WWW badly when I did it and I was really surprised as I really didn't think I did as badly as my score made out! I then did some hunting around and found a youtube video of a professional transcriber saying that she'd failed it as well and that it is notoriously difficult to pass. I'm amazed anyone has to be honest!

Ap is totally hit and miss - apply for everything you can and you will hopefully get something. I've also found you have to be quite proactive with checking guidelines and working out what the hell you are supposed to be doing - some of the projects are fairly glitchy. But it's been an ok earner for me this year.

stillherenow · 15/06/2022 11:46

How are other newbies getting on with search sciences. I'm thinking of jacking it in.

WizardOfAus · 15/06/2022 14:49

Fellow potato peelers.
What happened to surges? I haven't seen one in over two months!

stillherenow · 15/06/2022 17:26

They clocked that lots of people only worked during surges so they are much more limited, I did get on one about a week ago, but the content has been really slow since then .

stillherenow · 15/06/2022 17:28

Thing is though I don't think their strategy works as I don't keep it up much now as it's hardly ever worth logging on, sometimes I find it ok first thing in the morning. Whereas before I kept it up in case of surges .

lookthisway · 15/06/2022 18:02

I don't think things are going to change back, they hired more people so content is seldom in need of surges anymore.

stillherenow · 15/06/2022 18:03

Saying that it's ok right now !

ruralwanderer · 15/06/2022 18:42

@stillherenow I love the Search Sciences work and am making pretty good money on it. Some briefs take a while but once you get familiar with the style and content required you do speed up.
