PIP - should I call?

I sent off all of the paperwork early April. I know it takes a long time (5 months - is it really that long??) but is there any point to calling occasionally to chase it or am I just wasting my time?

When I first called (had letter about DLA ending) they asked about motorbility and I said I wasn't interested. There might have also been a question on the form that I ticked 'no' to but now I know what it is, and I know we'd qualify, we'd really like it. Again, should I call or just wait until the decision?

Thank you!

i’m currently in the same waiting period as you (mines a review) i sent of in april and still haven’t heard but it’s due to the fact they get set to an assessor and there’s a backlog. so most people wait a few months. you can’t join the motobility scheme unless you have at least a year left of your current award. i’m on the scheme currently and can’t exchange my car until my new award is agreed.

Less than 2 months is barely any time to have waited. It can take months as you say.

I agree you haven’t waited long, but you can always call to confirm they have received everything.

Waiting time between sending forms and getting an assessment date seems to be about 4-5 months at the moment.

If it's worrying you, you could ring them just to check that they've got the forms.

I've waited for my review assessment for 11 months and counting. My award ended 2 months ago but I'm still being paid because its their fault. They've cancelled 2 appointment ps so far because the assessor was off sick

There seems to be no logical method to which forms they are dealing with tbh. They sent a renewal for for my son, his claim was due to end late Feb 2023. I returned it by mid March as requested, heard within four weeks that he had been given an ongoing award, no phone call, no assessment or anything.

You can getting motability anytime once you have PIP award. You just go to the dealer of the choice and the will have person that will deal with everything.
