Energy Increase Prediction

Just saw that Ofgem are predicting another 50% increase on energy bills latest this year.

I am lucky in that I can pick up a bit more work and cover the cost but this is mad and shows no sign of slowing (to me).

Anyone have any hopes it might improve?

Nope. Tories are too busy trying to save Johnson's ass than to do anything about the cost of living crisis.

Based on this news I've just fixed mine til next July, it's only £30 more than I'm currently paying.

Not 50%...they are predicting a 41% increase....£1971 + £800.

Yeah, they've just revised it I think. When it was first up it was "almost £3000" but the story has been edited to show it's only £2800.

That's ok then - easily affordable Grin

'Only' £2800 for something that was under half of that a few months ago.

I dread to think what the actual inflation rate is for a lower income household, especially pensioners, who've seen 100%+ inflation on energy, 60% inflation on fuel, probably about 50% on basic food, the cost of all these now taking up just about all their income. It doesn't matter that the official inflation rate is 'only' 9% because they don't have any money for most of the things in the inflation basket.

I dread to think what it's going to be like in winter! I'm disabled so can't work, this is almost my yearly disability money without living on anything!

I'm growing increasingly sad. Last winter was miserable. I seldom had the heating on. It looks like we won't be able to have it on at all. I cant afford anymore increases. I have no money left to feed us or get us about to school and work. I'm really scared
