Nothing for me since November 2021 on 8.6k. Since taking some out I haven’t won 🥲

WobblyLondoner · 02/06/2022 08:08

£50 for me on full holding, hooray! I've won £150 since January. Nothing for my DP & DS on smaller holdings.

theyarereallytakingthepissnow · 02/06/2022 08:11

3 x £25 on full holding first month

OceanAtTheEnd · 02/06/2022 08:27

£125 here on full holdings-ish 🙂.

OceanAtTheEnd · 02/06/2022 08:31

This Money Saving Expert calculator can be used to give you an idea of whether you're lucky or unlucky

https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/savings/premium-bonds-calculator/

I can't immediately tell whether it's been updated from 1% to 1.4% though.

OceanAtTheEnd · 02/06/2022 08:36

Oh, I think it hasn't been updated yet, it's still using 1%.

wheresmyshoe · 02/06/2022 08:38

Nothing this time on £6k.

katmunchkin · 02/06/2022 08:40

3 x £25 here on full holdings - this is the first month I've been eligible to take part so I'm happy with that!

UrsulaPandress · 02/06/2022 08:55

3 x £25 on £48k after a dry few months.

Hurrah.

OublietteBravo · 02/06/2022 08:57

2x £25 this month on full holdings. That’s £175 so far this year.

tunnocksreturns2019 · 02/06/2022 08:57

£50 on 3 x full holdings - not very good at all. The money is only there temporarily and will probably be moved soon

ENoeuf · 02/06/2022 08:57

Nothing on £5k. Seems to be full holdings winning mainly which makes sense. Also a bit yikes! do I keep adding or cut my losses and find something else. Hmm!

steve6375 · 02/06/2022 08:58

I had full 50k in PB for approx. 5 years and won much less than £500 (1%) every year. Now I get at least 8K tax free every year on average and more each year. I opened a tax free stocks and shares ISA and invested in a few global ETFs (took 3 years to get it all in as only 20k allowed per year). Over a period of 10 years I have earned an average of approx. 8k a year. You should expect approx. 10% a year compound though it is less than that this year but should recover. I still have 5k in PBs just in case though! I don't understand why everyone doesn't do this as it just takes 30 minutes online to do and anyone can do it (Barclays, Hargreaves Lansdowne, Interactive Investor, Bell, etc.). So it's your choice... 5K gain with PBs (less than inflation!) after 10 years or 80K gain after 10 years...

Twixie2022 · 02/06/2022 09:02

Finally a win.. only opened in October but got a £25 this month.

Because mine is for a house deposit so it needs to be v low risk and easily accessible, this comes up quite often and the majority of people have good reasons to keep the money in PB's, or have PB's as well as other investments.

If I don't start winning more soon I will just move it all into my Chase account though so I'm getting a guaranteed 1.5%.

SwedishEdith · 02/06/2022 09:17

£25 this month. Nowhere near full holdings. Interestingly, the bond that won was from same bundle I've had a previous win on - bought Aug 2020. If I'd never bought any more after that, it'd be equivalent to 1.5% interest.

OublietteBravo · 02/06/2022 09:20

@steve6375

  1. I need the money I have in premium bonds to pay for our extension (which is starting in September).

  2. I’m already using my full ISA allowance (and my full pension allowance).

DaydreamerBetty · 02/06/2022 09:21

I’m mostly investing in s&s ISA now, I need my money to grow not be eroded by inflation. I keep money in PB’s for easy access, It’s my emergency pot.

ThatPosterIsSoRight · 02/06/2022 09:24

Yay after several months of nothing I got £50 (on FH). DM got £75 on £25k.

The new ‘interest’ rate has definitely made a difference.

InMySpareTime · 02/06/2022 09:25

@steve6375 I think most of us here only have PBs as instant access short term savings pots, we also have long term investments and pensions if we actually want a good long term return.
It's also the lottery thrill each month without risking the capital, or somewhere to put DCs birthday money until they work out what to spend it on.

CharlieLo · 02/06/2022 09:27

First time with full holdings (previously went nearly a year with no wins on 6k).

won 3 x £25 so happy with that!

KohlaParasaurus · 02/06/2022 09:28

£25 on £30000. I have a sound reason for not having that money in a S&S ISA or my SIPP.

Risk and reward. My PBs are for things needed in the next 12 months. I’d be stupid to risk capital loss in that time. I opened a small s&s ISA last year which is currently 8% down - past experience tells me it will recover eventually but that’s not for short term investments.
