I'm going to give this a go and thought it may be worth starting a thread to so other people can see what happens.
I'm following the plan of action outlined here
Just done the first step, which is reqesting a breakdown of all the penalty charges i've paid in the last 6 years. Made the request over the phone and woman really helpful and degree of competence sounded like i wasnt the first person to have made this request. They're sending them to me. i anticipate paying a £10 charge for this.
Will keep you updated. If anyone else feels like joining me and giving this a go, that'd be great. I'm an HSBC customer BTW
