Has anyone spoken with them recently and know what month they are working on at the moment?

In January it was a 12 week wait for initial assessment and then an extra 16 weeks for reassessment. I have been waiting since October last year...

Oh wow, i applied in February so im nearly at the 12 weeks. Hopefully hear something soon.

I take it you were refused 1st time? I have no issue re getting awarded, I recieved it before but had to stop as I started to earn to much

That is a long time to wait. Does anyone know what happens when the person you are caring for has a terminal illness? There is a real chance they could die before the Carer's Allowance is awarded - and surely with such a long wait the money is not available when it is desperately needed?

You can ring them and explain the situation and they will prioritize the claim. I have done this a few times for the carers of terminally ill clients that I was helping. the carers allowance advisers told me that this could be done.
