ExH withholding Child Trust Fund

My DS turned 18 this morning. His dad left before his 2nd birthday and has had little to do with him since (but that's a whole other thread). He was expecting his trust fund to be transferred to his bank account this morning (this is what his dad told him would happen).
His dad has just phoned him (no birthday card, no present, nothing) and said he can't have his trust fund money until he sees him.
We live at opposite ends of the country and he made no attempt to see him over the Easter holidays, he's only seen him twice in the last 12 months. So now DS has to wait until half term in May for money that is legally his.
Can he do this? How do we find out where the money is so my DS can have it?

I think I was always the administrator but you can get forms to change those details very easily!

He’s a lying bastard.
I helped my 19yo niece access hers last month - just helping my sister out with a pile of admin, niece is autistic and needed a hand hold. Didn’t need my sister at all.

Find it online and then you'll just need to sort out some paperwork. Absolutely nothing to do with your ex. It's your son's money now.

Using your Govt gateway details will tell you the trust fund info I have just read...
