We are just about to complete a remortgage of our property, the offer is with the solicitors now. Obviously we have our original mortgage to pay off which we have been told will be done by the solicitor but we also have a loan secured on the house, will this be paid off by him as well as no one seems to have asked for any details of this. Or will we have to do that independently.

Is your solicitor fully aware if this. The loan company would, I think , be deemed to currently have second charge on the house and the new lender should be made aware of it if it is going to continue. I don't think he will clear the second loan automatically unless you have specifically instructed him, and for that I would have thought he needs the details.

Thanks for your reply the new lenders are aware of the loan but haven't asked for any account details etc. I presume when the solicitor gets in touch he will ask for these details?

Sorry I know it's very boring but anyone else?

I would presume that the loan would stay secured on the house if it's seperate to the mortgage. Presumably if you don't ask them to pay it off it'll just continue to run. Does the new mortgage amount include this loan amount too?
