Husbands HMRC tax account has been opened in my name accidently? Worried what do I do?

My husband is self employed. I am employed. While submitting an application for marriage allowance my husband realised that the business tax account is actually under my name. One tax return has been submitted so far. So, instead of my husband being self-employed, it appears that I am self employed. Could I call them to sort this out, or is it best to cancel my self employment and then register my husband as self employment again? Not sure how this happened, and how the system allowed this to happen, but it seems we made a mistake when filling in the form initially. any advice appreiciated thanks

I’m sure you have got muddled somehow. It’s really almost impossible to register and submit a Tax Return accidentally under a wrong name. They post an activation code and use TFA and your name shows up on each page.

Ring them up and explain. Honestly they are very helpful on the HMRC helpline. They will tell you what to do.

thanks. @ForensicAccountant I think the gov.uk account is under my name, it shows my NI number. but the tax return is showing my husbands name and NI number. really strange but I do things quite fast so maybe I went wrong somewhere !!!
