Direct Debit ‘Admin Fee’

I’ve just noticed that my milkman has stated charging an admin fee for paying by DD.
It’s a minimal amount, but he hasn’t told us about it, it just started.
I thought Admin fees related to payment methods were classed as unlawful a few years ago - or am I wrong ?

It is still allowed in respect of DDs. See this explanation.

I have the dreaded Milk and More and we have to pay by continuous card authority now instead of direct debit. It's really odd to charge people more to pay by direct debit as I'd have assumed it was a lot safer than leaving cash out.
