Portuguese will issue - long shot!

This is a total long shot but here goes - is there a lawyer out there who is au fait Portuguese inheritance law? My father, a british national who was resident in Portugal, recently sadly passed away and whilst he left a will with a Portuguese notary, we are being given confusing and conflicting information about what paperwork we need to produce in order to even begin the probate process - worse, there is a deadline of beginning of May. Has anyone already been through this who could advise? The Portuguese consulate has been no help at all. Many thanks.

Sorry for your loss.

I haven't been through this exact thing, but I live in Portugal and my mother had to deal with inheriting a Portuguese property when my father died.

Who has given you the information? The notary? What paperwork have you been asked for?

It is all very confusing (everything bureaucratic is here!), and I would recommend getting a Portuguese solicitor to help. Which area of the country did he live in?
