So my tariff ended in Feb and at that point my gas and electric bill increased by approx 55-60%. I’ve just received an email with the bill now going up from April by another 40%.. the difference from Feb now in April will be over £160 more for my bill than it was in Feb… it basically means no savings I’m really worried about this situation! Is this normal? I’m with EON by the way

Yes, most people falling off their cheap tariff now will see a huge increase on their bills as they move on the current variable rate and then again when the new rate from April kicks in. There'll be another increase in October too. The days of gas at 2.2p and electricity at 16p have gone.

To be honest I’m actually stressed about it we are lucky in that we can just about afford it but it means basically the money I try to put away for a rainy day is mostly used up !

Yeah, it's depressing. Are you on a council tax band A-D to benefit from the £150 rebate?

Nope
