CB overpayment drama!

Hello,

I don't know if anyone can help me? I am trying to sort out my child benefit payments. I have worked out that I owe £74. I am ready to pay this now...

The issue is that when I fill in the directed self assessment form it tells me I owe £1518. I work in public services and was have been taxed every month. I owe £400 over the threshold - I really don't get it?

Has anyone has a similar experience or have I done something wrong?!

Are you £400 over the taper threshold ( just above 50k) or the no entitlement threshold (60k)?.

Have you ensured pension contributions have been accounted for properly (either removed from base salary or included as a deduction depending on type of pension).

When calculating your £74 figure did you include all salary, bonus, taxable benefit etc?
