I just need a credit card for the hols and I have seen the above advertised somewhere, which would be ideal as I don't want to be tempted to spend what I don't have but not sure of the details, does any one know? Thanks.

I think virgin does one of these. I assume its like topping up your phone you just add cash onto it and have a balance. This is virgin pre paid card

I have a prime card very easy to use and very friendly staff
you can get it from most post offices and high streets now.

You load it up in multiples of 10.00 plus it is a 2.00 charge the first time.

You have to apply onine or over the phone for it to be reloadble this takes about 5 days and then you get an email telling you how much you can put on it before it runs out I can put about 2k on I think.

Plus you get to view all transactions online

Yes. They keep your money and earn interest on it instead of you keeping your money and earning interest on it.

You'd be better off getting a normal credit card that earns you airmiles or has some kind of cashback deal while you spend and just arrange it so that it's paid off in full every month by direct debit. That way you get something out of the bastards and you never have to pay any interest.

There's a few like this to chose from. Have a look at www.moneysavingexpert.com for some suggestions.

very helpful thanks, the cards appear simple enough to use but if they are not personalised can they still be used to purchase travel tickets for example, as some operators insist that the card has to be in your name before accepting payment,
