Hi. I always pay rent on 8th and I thought i pay rent forward, but for some reason, landlord sent invoice to pay for another month, as if it is in arrears...what si the standard practice - is rent in arrest or forward?
thank you

I pay mine in arrears (HA) , I cant see why you would pay in advance what would happen if you choose to move? out the LL would have to pay you back , though I guess they would use the money to pay for cleaning / repairs .
I pay a few pounds a month over what my rent actual is , I have done this since I moved into this house 20 ish years ago. then about once every two years I get to take a break from paying without going into debt .
A few weeks ago my HA said I have to stop doing this and they would prefer it if I was in debt to them , I asked why , I am still waiting for a answerer Confused

It will depend upon your contract. With a private landlord I would say in advance is more common but depends upon your contract.

@NewYearCalavicci instead contracts there is a notice period therefore you wouldnt be moving out and be owed money from a landlord as notice periods covers this. You would have to pay until the end of th entice period even if a property is vacated earlier.
