Is this as straightforward as it sounds? Do I need to change bank details with employer, HRMC (for child benefit), etc, or do they do it?

Thanks.

We switched in January of this year to Nationwide and I have found it really impressive. What worked automatically - list of payees transferred across, all direct debits and standing orders, any payments to our old account transferred to our new account on an ongoing basis. What I've had to sort out myself - Paypal link to bank; anything involving debit card details, in which case it's like any situation with a debit card expiring or getting lost and you have to enter new card details. I'm sure I'm forgetting things but those are the main ones and it has been pretty seamless.

Every time I've switched, Honours Student Loans (pre-98 student loan) have failed to update my bank details, but otherwise I've not had problems when switching.
