Balance transfer from store card - lost

I stupidly didn't realise I couldn't transfer balance of store card (Next) to 0% card. It's been a particularly stressful time recently.

I made the transfer (put in 16 digit store card number - checked three times) addressed to Next and all seemed to have gone through online except showing now as a debit on 0% account but not showing on Next account.

Spent 3 hrs on phone today with Halifax and Next trying to locate money and no one can find it. They say that as next changed their bank account number recently this has caused problems and I'm in the same position as lots of people whose money is been lost.

However as I made transfer to 16 digit next store card and not using their bank account details I don't know how this issue applies to me. I'm hoping it does so I can get sorted but pit of my stomach tells me no.

It was quite a big transfer. They said they'll contact me in 5 days as money may be in a holding account of nexts.

Transfer was made 23.01.22.

Anyone a similar experience please?

I feel sick

Hi, just to clarify, are you saying that the amount owed is now showing on the Halifax card but is also still showing on the next account? Is that what you're saying?

Yes sorry - long rambling post

Try not to worry. If they said that they'd contact you in 5 days then it sounds like they are on it.

You don't actually owe Halifax anything though, if they haven't paid off the Next account - so you only need to pay Next, not Halifax.

I just did a balance transfer with Sainsburys Bank and it seemed to take forever, at least 3 weeks.
