A company called 'Complete Savings' are stealing money from my bank account

Scoot75 · 03/02/2022 07:18

Has anybody heard of this company? I have never signed up to them but they've got my bank details somehow. They are taking money out of my bank account and I don't know what to do.

Their Customer Service said there is nothing they can do to help. I cannot afford this money. They have literally left me with £1.26 in my account this month until I get paid on the 17th.

Can anyone advise me please? Thanks.

Contact your bank and ask them to investigate.

GeneLovesJezebel · 03/02/2022 07:19

Have you spoken to your bank ?

LubaLuca · 03/02/2022 07:23

I agree that it's your bank you need to speak to. They'll investigate and get your money back.

CakesOfVersailles · 03/02/2022 07:23

Have you signed up to a cash back scheme through any company? Some use a third party to run these schemes. How much are they charging each month? 15 pounds?

First, contact your bank. Then, get back on to customer service.

LubaLuca · 03/02/2022 07:26

Oh, it looks like it's connected to the pop-ups you sometimes see after buying something online (I've had it after buying from Argos). 'Click here to claim your £17.84 cashback' - it's a lure to get people to sign up for an expensive yearly subscription.

You’ve clicked on a “get cash back” type popup after buying something online – happens quite regularly on certain websites.

If you check the FAQs on their website it tells you how to contact them to cancel.
I can’t see you getting any money back as you will have signed up

I would NEVER sign up to something like this.

Speak to your bank fraud team asap.

Gazelda · 03/02/2022 07:35

As others have said, you need to speak with your bank. If it's a SO, they'll be able to cancel it. I'm sure they'd be able to block any DD until it's fully investigated.

Plasmodesmata · 03/02/2022 07:36

It may not have been obvious that's what you did, because the ads pop up after you buy something else online and look like part of the site you were on. I get them after doing online supermarket shop.

Scoot75 · 03/02/2022 07:38

@Plasmodesmata I would NEVER knowingly do something like this. I don't even live in the UK! It is of no benefit to me.

If you log into online banking, can you see them on your list of standing orders or direct debits?

MichelleScarn · 03/02/2022 07:39

I've been getting them after shopping on multiple sites, ebay, PayPal etc. I think on one site the box was pre selected so had to unselect!

I think it's likely to be this. You see them frequently after online shopping orders and it's easy to accidentally click or probably not very clear unless you go digging that it's a paid for subscription service.

I've nearly been caught out a couple of times and my scam bullshit radar is very well tuned.

Loftyloft · 03/02/2022 07:39

If it is by DD you can Request to the bank that you didn’t sign up, you get a refund and the onus is on the company to prove you did.
If by debit/credit card it’s more difficult.

MrsRoyCropper · 03/02/2022 07:42

I noticed last week that I’d had been paying a monthly subscription to the same company too. I too had no idea who this company are and emailed them asking them to confirm what their product/ service is and could they provide evidence I had requested this service and confirmation of a direct debit agreement. Explained I’d never heard of the company and wanted the subscription cancelled immediately. They responded quite promptly to confirm 3 x £15 payments would be refunded (which they did), but if o was still unhappy asked me to provide info such as, had I used any of the benefits etc.
I’ve responded to confirm I’ve not claimed on the benefits as o was not aware I had signed up to the service, and currently waiting for a response.
I’ve since noticed a pop up for the same company when I ordered something from moonpig this week. I must have clicked on it previously for information but promptly disregarded it, but they had taken my bank details that are saved in moonpig to set up a direct debit to their company. Absolutely shocking bad practice. Please email them, if you Google the company you’ll find their email address, I’m hoping to get a full refund but if they refuse I’ll go to my bank to escalate.

Dmsandfloatydress · 03/02/2022 07:44

Cancel your card and get a new one. Then mo more payments while your bank investigates

BarbaraofSeville · 03/02/2022 07:56

Cancelling the card won't stop the liability if the OP has unknowingly signed up to a subscription and payments will still be taken if it's a direct debit rather than a continuous payment authority.

She needs to get the supplier to cancel any account and refund payments taken, or use the direct debit guarantee if relevant. A few PPs have said how they achieved this.

Finallygotme · 03/02/2022 08:07

So are the pop ups in collusion with the supplier that you are using, ie moonpig as above?

Scoot75 · 03/02/2022 08:09

I've had a look on Twitter. It does appear to be a scam. Lots of people saying they never signed up.

They've taken £195 from me. Thieving bastards Sad.

AndTime · 03/02/2022 08:39

It's the cash back scheme, if you can log on to their website it's easy to cancel. Try a password reset with your email address if you don't remember signing up.

MostNamesAreTaken · 03/02/2022 08:44

Report to action fraud? www.actionfraud.police.uk/

They may not do anything but at least it gets logged. Though they may not have jurisdiction if you are outside UK. Maybe if enough people report the company they may act.

Scoot75 · 03/02/2022 08:47

I want to contact Kate Swann the Chair of Moonpig. I doubt she knows what is happening. Does anybody have any idea how I can contact her? Thanks.
