UC sanction

In brief, if I was working part time in the evenings and the person that looked after my children couldn't do it anymore would I be likely to be sanctioned for having to leave my job?

Youngest child isn't yet 3 if that makes a difference

Its highly unlikely you will be sanctioned as it relates to lack of childcare.

Thanks for replying. I'm trying to find online info, I'm wondering if because my youngest is 2 I'm not "obliged" to work (despite wanting to) so it wouldn't be a problem 🤔

No your money definitely won’t stop you have children with no child care that’s a very good reason to not work
Good luck x

Honestly sanctions for leaving work are very rare, I don’t think it should be a consideration for you. If anything, just say it was a temporary contract and they didn’t keep you on Wink

However just wanted to let you know that they can pay for 85% of your childcare costs if it helps you keep your job

I see where you’re going with this but again I don’t think you should worry about being sanctioned and trying to find a defence as the sanction most likely won’t even be a consideration for whoever you see next at the job centre. Those sanctions are reserved as a last resort eg people purposely sabotaging their attempts at finding work with an established pattern of behaviour

This is all reassuring thank you.
The hours and location mean childcare apart from what I've been having wouldn't be viable so I was panicking a bit.
It's so hard trying to juggle at the moment, fingers crossed I get a stroke of luck soon
