Eharmony

Help!
Has anyone had any dealings with Eharmony?
I joined and paid £41. Within 2 hours I cancelled my subscription as it's awful.
They're now demanding further payments from me! I'm not getting a refund either.
There appears to be no 'cooling off' period which as far as I'm aware is illegal!!

It’s not illegal in all cases not to have a cooling off period. Especially when you have used the service. They’ll deem the service performed once you search for a potential date I assume.

There was an article about this in the Guardian the other week:
www.theguardian.com/money/2022/jan/12/i-was-charged-65-by-dating-service-eharmony-after-i-broke-up-with-it

I think they got her money refunded in the end - perhaps follow the same tactics.

I never used the service. I essentially created an account then seen how awful it was and within 1 hr I cancelled it.
After reading reviews on line it appears to be what they do.
Shocking service

Did you search for members?

toptail222 · 28/01/2022 15:28

No I didn't search at all. I created my account then immediately deleted it.
This is what I found - they inform you of the £65 charge AFTER you've signed up.
The term is added afterwards, which as stated below is apparently not legally binding!

This would appear to be in breach of the Consumer Rights Act, which requires key terms and conditions to be explained and accepted before a contract is agreed. Terms added afterwards are not legally binding.

Can you do a charge back through your bank?

toptail222 · 28/01/2022 15:35

I have no idea. Thank goodness I didn't pay with my credit but instead used PayPal - which I've now cancelled subscription with Eharmony.
If I lose the £41 fair enough but I will not be making any further payments.
After reading on line it would appear that many others are in the same boat as me!
