What am I looking for?

I feel like I've been seeking a particular type of person for the last couple of years and it's like hunting a unicorn...

I'm tax resident in Spain, still with some financial affairs in the UK.

I have an accountant here who understands the Spanish system –I manage my own stuff in the UK.

But some of the back and forth and crossover between currencies and tax years etc. has got so confusing, I'm almost certain I've lost money somewhere in between.

What I need is someone who can:

  1. Look at all my financial affairs across both systems and currencies
  2. Speak to HMRC and Hacienda on my behalf
  3. Advise me on the best ways of managing my finances across two tax systems, because they're up to date on the ins and outs of both

I don't want to play middleman any more –it's doing my head in and I'm sure I'm not doing as good a job as I could be of it.

What is the name of the kind of person I'm looking for and why are they SO difficult to find?!

Help VERY much appreciated!

I'd be asking on an expat forum, or one of the expats in Spain groups on FB. There will be accountants that have knowledge of both systems.
