PIP and Carer's Allowance

I've already got a thread running about PIP so apologies to anyone who is getting sick of me and my questions! My dh gets PIP and has received the dreaded brown envelope asking for a review. I'm jumping the gun here but I'm just so worried and all sorts of things are going through my head. I'm aware that if he was turned down at review and at mandatory reconsideration stage and we subsequently requested a tribunal to make a decision, that his PIP payments would stop in the meantime. However, If he was successful on appeal I believe his payments would then be backdated to the original decision date. I am his full time carer and receive carers allowance based on him receiving PIP. I understand that whilst we were awaiting a tribunal decision, my carers allowance would also stop. If he was successful then I believe I could reapply for carers allowance but would this also be backdated? I've searched online but can't find an answer to this specific query so many thanks to anyone who can offer advice.

Yes it would be

When to claim
Carer’s Allowance can generally be backdated for up to three months before the date you submit your claim, so long as you meet the conditions for this period.
However, there is an exception where Carer’s Allowance can get backdated further than three months. If you claim Carer’s Allowance within three months of the person you care for getting a decision about their qualifying disability benefit, then Carer’s Allowance can get paid back up to the date the qualifying disability benefit was awarded from (as long as you meet the Carer’s Allowance conditions for the whole period).
You need to ask for Carer’s Allowance to be backdated on the claim form, it will not be backdated automatically.

@dinahsdishes thank you so much for the detailed reply. I would have fulfilled the carers responsibilities during that time, as I am his full time carer so hopefully would be eligible to have the payments backdated as you said. I really hope that he gets PIP awarded based on the review alone but am trying to prepare myself for any problems we may encounter. Thanks again.
