Nationwide flex account impulse saver

Hi, can anyone help me with the impulse saver function with Nationwide please? There's the option of transferring spare change from debit card transactions into a savings account. I've done this once and want to do it again but can't see the option to do so but I've used my card to do a few card transactions today. Is there a limit to how often you can do it? Is it a weekly thing? Daily? Some other kind of limit? I can't find any info on the website to find out and can't get into a branch for a while. Thanks.

Don’t gave Nationwide but my tsb account does this automatically once a month once you select the option. Is it maybe the same?

dementedpixie · 06/01/2022 20:45

It comes up on the app I think. Do you have that?

muldersspeedos · 06/01/2022 20:52

Yes I have the app. It wasn't there when I posted but it is now so maybe it's once every 24 hours.

I think you have to click into your current account to see it and can set up an amount that will transfer over

TheCanyon · 06/01/2022 20:57

Just checked the app, it doesn't say anything useful.

dementedpixie · 06/01/2022 21:01

Transactions made today will maybe not create spare change until they leave your account as its not instant

TheCanyon · 06/01/2022 21:01

Only says how to transfer over between 5 and 100. Pretty useless that there's no real explanation

dementedpixie · 06/01/2022 21:03

Once younseti it up in your details and settings you can transfer over spare change too as I've just set it up right now. Maybe you have no spare change yet

Dontlickthetrolley · 06/01/2022 22:48

You can ony use the button once a day.
It will only become active when your card payments from the previous day have been processed and deducted from your account (not pending) this is normally about 4pm
If you don't use it one day and there is money to transfer it will automatically carry on rolling over
If.you have direct debits that leave spare pennies this doesn't automatically get included in the instant saver pot so you would have to manually save those pennies

Thank you, that explains it the once a day thing. My previous bank didn't have this but I love it, it's such a good idea especially now that card transactions are so commonplace.

Sorry to join the conversation late but I've been wondering about Nationwide spare change & where does it actually come from? It's like magic 🤔

debster275 · 30/08/2022 07:16

But where does the money actually come from 🤔

N4ish · 30/08/2022 07:22

It’s from transactions on your debit card. If you spend £2.50 on a debit card transaction the app will give you the option of transferring 50p into a savings account. It rounds up to the nearest pound. Handy way to save small sums.

Thanks 👍
