How does go fund me work ? Say someone is in a difficult situation and they need to raise 500 pounds. How do they actually get donations? On the go fund me site, it said you can share links with friends and family. So what's the point of go fund me? You may as well just ask them directly. Or what if you don't have family that could help?

You would generally set up the gofundme and then share it on social media. Asking family and friends directly for money might put them in an uncomfortable position, sharing your gofundme means they can donate if they wish to.
