Capital Gain tax : whole house flooring replacement is improvement or maintainence ?

Is it like for like, i.e. carpet for carpet, lino to lino, etc., or is it an improvement/enhancement, i.e. carpet to oak wood?

carpet areas are replaced with carpets and laminate with modern vinyl if that makes sense

That's just repairs/replacements rather than improvements for CGT purposes.
