I’m going to be getting divorced after Christmas and have been looking at the monthly bills. We currently pay £90pm for landline and broadband from BT. That seems a lot.
What could I get it down to ?

Go to a comparison website and google. My phone. Broadband and tv a large is £48

cloverleafy · 04/12/2021 12:56

We're just getting FTTP broadband from BT (already with BT, upgrading from "normal" broadband). We don't have any tv package with them, so just broadband and phone line will be £29.99/mth. I'll get another £1.50ish/mth off by paying the line rental element up front. So £28.50, for speedy broadband plus phone line and weekend calls.

Look at Now TV, they have offers on all the time, I got fibre plus line rental and anytime calls for £20 a month. They're the same people as Sky, who wanted £60 for the same thing.

I pay £26pm for fibre broadband and landline. Plusnet.

Look at comparison websites and go though a cashback site to get cashback.

Thanks everyone, that’s really helpful and has given me more money in my pocket when I’ll need it.

You pay how much? And I work for BT!

Same as cloverleafy DD has full fibre with BT for 29.99 and mum has FTTC with less bandwidth and with a landline and call package for the same.

I don’t pay for mine but how do you pay £90? Do you have TV in that?
If you’re out of term get it reviewed today!

BarbaraofSeville · 04/12/2021 15:09

That's astonishingly high. How come?

We pay under £30 pm for fast fibre broadband and landline to Virgin Media.

Sounds like you need to review all your bills and cut everything you can. Does your STBXH currently deal with things?

It’s in my DH’s name, and he’s too lazy to do anything about it.

@cloverleafy
Sounds like a fab deal
Is your speed 300mb?

cloverleafy · 05/12/2021 18:42

@Alwayscheerful Ours is the 150mb. Still a step up from the 35mb we had until recently.

FixTheBone · 05/12/2021 18:48

Seems really expensive.

I pay £112/month for 500mb full fibre, BT TV with BTSport and Sky Sport and 7 family SIMS with 30GB data and unlimited calls and texts....

Alwayscheerful · 05/12/2021 22:27

@cloverleafy
We pay £45 for 300mb and landline but ours is a relatively new FFTP connection, once we are out of contract I am hoping to renegotiate a better deal

I just asked my DH if your package would include a landline he said I doubt they need one with 7 mobiles. You are getting excellent value, the sims are worth £50-£70 Smile

Sounds a lot, about £25 - £30 is what you would expect to pay for a re contract, sometimes if it is a new deal it will be less and you may get cashback. We just re contract with BT each time and pay about £28, ours is only 38Mbps but 41Mbps is the highest we can get from the cabinet when I checked, but it would still be the same price if it was faster. Unfortunately I don't think we will get fttp anytime soon and we haven't got VM,
