Hi everyone

I've just been awarded middle personal component rate for my little girl . Do I need to inform uc as my child tax credit is linked to that . Also what happens to my uc does it get affected or do you get the disability element on the claim. Also I've just made a claim for carers allowance online today how long did you wait for this to be sorted and did you get it backdated
Sorry I'm new to this as this is my first claim m

Thank you everyone :)

There are no tax credits on UC.
Now that DLA has been awarded you need to report the change of circumstances on the home page of your journal, I think you need to go to the child section and report that your child is now classed as disabled.
You should now get the lower disabled child element added on each month, I think it's an extra £128 a month maybe ? You can ask for this element to be backdated to the date the DLA was awarded form but this may have to go to a decision maker.
You also need to report on the home page that you are now a carer and again ask for backdating. this will be an extra £163 per month carers element on your Uc claim.
Carers allowance is paid separately but then deducted from your Uc at a monthly averaged rate. So it's paid separately but then taken off Uc again. You are however better off as you get the carers element added.
When you get the backdated lump sum of carers allowance this will then have to come back off your UC, so will be classed as an overpayment and taken back gradually.

You also need to report that you are a carer on your UC claim (will entitle you to the cater element).

I have done that . And I received a message saying I was underpaid but now I'm confused about my new entitlement to uc x

You need to tell UC. You will get slightly more per week with the disabled child element. Once carers allowance is awarded you’ll need to tell UC again as you will get the carers element added to your UC and the amount you receive in carers allowance deducted as unearned income from UC.

All of this should be backdated to the date your DLA has been backdated to. Unfortunately all the backdated Carers allowance will need to go to UC but you should get the carer and disabled child elements of Uc backdated.
