Just that really, trying to get a good lump saved in case of emergencies.

How much do you currently have saved and do you feel comfortable with it?

I know some people have hundreds whilst others have thousands so just interested really....

I'm not actually sure. It was £50k but have done some home improvements recently and bought a new car. It might be about £30-35k now. We were gifted £20k by fil though. So joy all saved by us.

I've always had at least £5k even when we bought our first house we paid deposit and kept £25k for home improvements. We spent about £20k. U would feel uncomfortable with only £5k now. Probably wld like at least £10k as a safety net.

We live in our overdraft each month so no chance of saving Sad

Also with compound interest- my younger sister was given a £250 payment from the government as part of the child trust scheme which was put into a stocks and shares plan. My parents didn't add a single penny to the amount. Over 18 years when she could have access to it last year it had grown to around £3100 with just having the dividends reinvested.

About 25k plus private pensions.

We also own our home with a tiny mortgage.

camperqueen54 · 10/12/2021 07:28

£27 k in a savings account plus all our pensions. £5k in another savings account. My pension is a final salary pension with nhs and university. Husband teachers pension.

Not really anything at the moment but then it's been a weird, expensive and difficult year. I earn a good salary however, and we've been making some changes which will put us in a better position and allow us to save again from early next year.

Danikm151 · 14/12/2021 16:47

I currently have £600 in my help to save account.
I did have over £2k in my regular account but moving house and the expenses associated with that made it go kaput. With the help to save, I'll have save £2400 over 4 years and then received 2x £600 bonuses.

Winterlove · 14/12/2021 16:50

£35k and my partner probably has around £25k. We own our home with a small mortgage.

Justcashnosweets · 14/12/2021 17:48

Big fat zero. Trying to pay off debts within 2 years and absolutely no spare money to save.
