Struggling to find a children's account that you can pay cheques into?

I need to open an account for DC for when relatives send cheques at Christmas etc.

None seem to accept payments in by cheque but this is essential for us.

I have a Halifax junior ISA for DC1 but I can only manage that in branch which is a huge pain as the branch is barely open.

Does anyone know of a children's account that I can access online and pay in a cheque either via an app or post?

I don't mind if it requires a monthly payment in.

Easier to ask those kind relatives to send a card with an IOU and have them transfer funds

Mine have halifax accounts which are older style and as i havea halifax account too they appear on my app so I can pay them on there ?

Coventry building society - freepost cheques to a dedicated address, really easy

You should be able to view the Halifax accounts on the Halifax app, and you can pay cheques in on the app as well.

Post office is great for paying cheques in for many banks.

Lloyds let you with the child saver

I have a Halifax saver account for my DC and I use the app to pay cheques in by photographing them and they go through this way. As you've already got a kids account with Halifax open a saving account with them too and you can pay in the cheques through the app.

I don't have a Halifax account myself so that may be the answer. It would be helpful to have both DCs accounts with the same provider.

I'll look into the Post Office accounts too, thank you.

Santander Mini 123 account? I just post cheques to my local branch with a clear note of which account it is to be paid in to.

Basic child natwest account my ds got a cheque book when we opened it so assuming he can also deposit cheques aswell.

If they are over 11, Nationwide do a FlexOne current account. I'm pretty certain that we can pay cheques into it via an app (but haven't seen any cheques for ages - we just transfer money ourselves)

Halifax no issues with cheques

@idontlikealdi

Halifax no issues with cheques
The problem I have with Halifax is I have no paying in book and have to go into branch, which is never open when I'm not working.

I phoned for a paying in book but they'd only speak to the account holder - who's three! Confused

NatWest do, though I've always paid them in at the branch

dementedpixie · 23/11/2021 14:55

Junior ISAs are different to a bog standard savings account. It would be easier to deposit cheques to a standard savings account than an ISA

YorkshireIndie · 23/11/2021 19:24

Nationwide and TSB will let you pay cheques into a children's account as long as their names are on the account. I like nationwide because they do a bank book which I always liked looking at as a child

AnneElliott · 25/11/2021 21:30

DS has a nationwide savings account and they accept cheques. Either in branch or via a cash machine.

We often get cheques made out to me that's for the kids. My banking app lets me pay the cheque into my account by taking a picture of it. I then transfer the money to the kid's accounts

Our children's savings accounts do accept cheques but some relatives make the cheques out to me just incase

Lovelydovey · 27/11/2021 12:10

We pay cheques into the children’s accounts with Virgin.
