Credit card fraud

I noticed a transaction on my credit card statement which I didn’t recognise. I raised it with the card company and cancelled the card

The credit card company has received a reply from the company (who I’ve never heard of) saying that the goods were delivered to me and I haven’t contacted them to report a problem. I haven’t contacted them, because I’ve never heard of them!
I know this transaction is fraudulent, but I don’t want to get on the wrong side of criminals who clearly have my name and address and I’m tempted not to pursue it. It’s a small amount of money. I don’t know what to do.

Just check it was definitely a fraudulent transaction . Some companies have different trading names to the one that appears on your credit card statement. If you are sure, stand your ground and demand a refund from the CC.

Thanks for replying. It’s definitely fraudulent. The company address looks dodgy (what legitimate company puts their address but no postcode on their letterhead?) and the phone number is the wrong number of digits. A quick google of the company website points me in the direction of scam advisor.com. They’ve sent me Royal Mail tracking details which state “Incorrectly addressed. Returned to sender”.

It’s definitely dodgy but not sure that I want to get on the wrong side of these people who have my name and address for the sake of 5 quid

Op, they often start small in the hope it goes unnoticed then take all your money.

They won’t care about you, they only want money and will have loads of others who won’t notice to concentrate on.

Don’t let them get away with it.

I cancelled my card straight away, so hopefully it should be OK. Just really worried that they have my name and address
