Am I a shareholder and where does that put me?

I’ve broken up with my long term partner. He has a business and I receive a dividend each month. Does this make me a shareholder? I am not listed as a director on companies house even though he’s told me that’s what I am.
Does being a shareholder mean I have a small stake in the business regardless of whether we are together?

I would just like to know my rights I don’t want to go after any money, merely be aware of the legalities. We have 4 children. Never married.

Get back onto Companies House and download the latest annual return. That will tell you whether you’re a shareholder or not.

Problem is, there’s many types of shares that come with a whole variety of rights (of lack thereof). You might, for example, have a right to income but no right to vote.

Under the statement of capital (after the directors are listed), how many classes or share are there? The full details of shareholders should be below that - your name will be there if you’re a shareholder.
