Eye test

Just a bit of a rant really....I've been for an eye test this afternoon. The opticians asked if I was still on working tax credits and I told them I'd been moved over to universal credit. They said you'll still be entitled to a free eye test on UC. When I got home I checked online to make sure that's right and apparently I don't qualify for a free one as earn more than a certain amount. The opticians never asked how much I earned to qualify for a free one. Now I'm going to have to ring them up Monday morning and query that they've made a mistake. I'm now worried I'll get a fine for not knowing that you needed to earn a certain amount, its an honest mistake

I wouldn't worry about it, though you would likely receive the nhs exemption paper if you were free, the worst case is the optician will call you and expect payment. I'm in Scotland though so eye tests are free to all.

I had this the optician said I would get it free. The admin staff said no. As I wasn't too much.

I wasn't expecting it to be free just let them know an error was made.

Thank you for the replies. I'm going to ring them on Monday morning and query that they've made a mistake. I was just worried that I'll get an NHS fine for them putting me down for a free one.
Strange thing is I'm entitled to a free one with them through my contact lense scheme so have no idea why they wanted to claim one through the NHS.
