I've been on hold to the CMS for what seems like 6 days
I'm just wondering while I wait; could a payer use a different name to work somewhere and have that not be picked up by CMS/ HMRC?

You mean a fake identity with a fake national insurance number? Possibly but highly unlikely unless a criminal mastermind

It's ok I've finally got through and they said yes and that it's not uncommon

And to be fair he's quite the skilled little shit so I'm not surprised

Nope! Shame there's any of us! He's declared himself on benefits (whatever) and when they ordered him to pay 7 pounds a week 3 months ago he had the gall to call them and have it reduced to 6.86.
Who would ever do that, it defies me
I called them they've put it back up to 7and say they will start collecting from him.
