Think I’ve been scammed.

I bought some dresses on this website. www.monsoonoutletonsales.com/-ezp-1.html. Not sure why i didn’t twig that it was strange that they had all the dresses in all sizes in stock. And badly written delivery and returns info. I spend £87 and then noticed a transaction on it bank account to an estate agent for £86.
I’ve contacted the bank as the payment is still pending. Is there anything else I should do?

Looks dodgy! My son got scammed and got his money back by reporting it to his bank. He paid by debit card

moomoogalicious · 21/09/2021 14:41

The bank waited for the payment to be taken from his account

Contact your bank, but not sure what else you can do.

Did you buy on credit card or via paypal?

Fluffypastelslippers · 21/09/2021 14:45

Definitely a scam site. I think your best option is to see what the bank suggest.

TakeYourFinalPosition · 21/09/2021 14:47

Yeah, that’s definitely a dodgy site, even the URL makes no sense.

How did you contact the bank? If you didn’t call, I’d do that. They might not do anything until the pending payment has gone through, but at least you’ll have tried.

  1. Report the site to action fraud
  1. If you paid via PayPal initiate a dispute or
  1. If you paid by card, initiate a chargeback and ask about cancelling your card, and keep an eye out for suspicious transactions, especially for small amounts.
  1. Contact the real monsoon as they will take action to get them closed down.
  1. Watch out for emails on the email you provided as I'm afraid you may be on a mugs list and be sent more phishing emails.

Yes it is a scam. Sorry you were caught out but you should get your money back.

It looks pretty dodgy. Use monsoon uk to find the real site. Agree url looks strange.

OnlySpam · 21/09/2021 14:52

You should get your money back by contacting your bank

And I hate to kick you when you're down but what on earth made you believe that site was genuine? The poor grammar is an immediate giveaway for starters

SpeakingFranglais · 23/09/2021 07:02

It’s an awful site, the brand name image is all fuzzy, the pages take ages to load, the clothes don’t resemble the type of clothes monsoon used to sell.

I hope you used a credit card OP
