Tax Credit Question Help!!

I have left my job and been offered a new position elsewhere but there will be about a 4 week gap between old and new job. Do I need to tell tax credits now? I was trying to avoid Universal Credit because the amount I get will go down. Confused because online says you have 30 days to report changes by which time I wouldn't need to because I would be working again for the same salary anyway.

As far as I know you can’t tell tax credits about a new job until you actually start it.

So would I need to tell them I've resigned from my current job? Which would I assume mean moving over to Universal Credit and delay/ not get this months money? And then tell them next month I have a new job?

Congratulations on the new job. There's a 4 week 'run on' so you'll still be entitled to tax credits, but do tell them about your change in employer.

Do you get child tax credits too? If you do, you can just tell HMRC about leaving the job and then reclaim the WTC when you start the new job.
If not then this may help you: www.gov.uk/working-tax-credit/further-information
