How likely is it that this decision might get over turned and the top up stay in place?
I work but rely on my UC and like many others it is going to impact me a lot. I had accepted it but saw on Twitter there was a some sort of vote/trend about it and wondered if there was any word it might get over turned?

I wouldn’t get your hopes up. There are lots of petitions around it and articles raising the issue, certainly people are trying.

It is the Tories after all. Saw something they want change UC for unemployed so
Some People could get £500 a week up to 80% of wages. Sounds great they could have money for that but having some on £75 and some on £500 is just as unfair. Yet suddenly the money would be found (for those who have more start with) again see “tories”.

Yes I thought that might be the case, I was just feeling a bit optimistic when I saw the trend!
Oh god, not another change!! I hope this doesn't impact my schedule 😰😰😰

It’s just being talked about prob not happen or not for years. All about poor hard workers on great wages who feel
Let down when get £75 a week. Not fixing it for those who earn enough get by and can’t save or millions who by default will always be on the minimum wage.

Try and focus worry on signing petitions and using Social media repost things. Every little helps!

I don't think it will stay. there is already a huge outcry that those on some legacy benefits like JSA and ESA and Income support did not see any covid uplift, so if that goes to court and they have to backpay 18 months worth of extra payments to that huge group of claimants, I cannot see them continuing it.

Sadly I think it will go back to what it was Confused there has been a lot of pushback and they've ignored it all

Danikm151 · 07/09/2021 03:30

Unfortunately the tories can’t see the positive impact the £86 has had on those of us that work and get a UC top up. Their speeches just talk about getting people back into work. 40% of people on UC work but they ignore that

This is really going to hit people hard imo.

Prices have shot up in the last few months, and many UC claimants will never have had to manage on the pre-uplift rates.
