I closed my universal credit account in January would I have had a letter about overpayment by now?

It's very hard to get overpaid on Universal credit as it is based on real time information and calculated on what you have earned each month. So i very much doubt you could have been overpaid unless you were self employed and reported earnings late or something.

They didn't receive my earnings from hmrc we got a payment of £700 I reported my earnings and closed my account because we wasn't entitled to anything I have rang them they said they can't see why I would owe it back I'm just worried I don't want to get a letter in a years time owing money I'd rather pay it back straight away I was just wondering how long people have waited to get a letter

they can look at the earning straight away, if you've called up they can look

cn you put the money to one side if you're worried?

U.C and rti helps prevent ovp which are hard on people when its not alway there fault they got into debt with an ovp

Your right you should have heard by now but personally I would stick the money aside and forget about it for a bit because they take there time

@Babyroobs
I got an overpayment from uc as my earnings weren't reported in time then I paid it of and they gave it me back again Hmm

Any update on this? We've been waiting 10 months and still no letter for overpayment. UC and debt management still saying they can't see anything.

I'm going through something very similar. 10 months since we were told we owed money and the amount we owe. I now ring UC and debt management and they say they can't see an overpayment.

What was your outcome?
