£250 from Admiral?!

Hi everyone

Unfortunately I was involved in an accident last week. The other party has accepted fault. I had initially planned to go through my insurer and have her insurer pay the costs, however her insurer (Admiral) contacted me and told me that if I used their engineers they would pay me £250 right away. However getting this £250 into my account has proved problematic!! It was supposed to be on today, I called them and apparently it wasn't put through so the lady today has 'approved' it. Are they stringing me along to save themselves money?? Has anyone actually received this payout? Thanks!

I would be wary. Why are they paying you what is essentially a bribe to use their engineers and not your own insurers? I would want to know more about this before I accepted?

Is likely not a scam, just an admin error. They’ll use their engineers to save money rather than pay another companies inflated costs.

@ivy48 has got it - the original man I spoke to did explain it, it saves them money to use their own engineers/garage.

Also my partners payout from admiral was frayed due to admin but as soon as the lady ‘pushed it through’ he had it the next day

@ivy48 That's brilliant, will keep my fingers crossed. Thanks so much.
