I have an overpayment from tax credits that I owe which was passed to advantis, I decided to wait for the debt collection company to make contact so I would be given more time to pay instead of HMRC themselves wanting lots per month to pay it back quicker. Anyway I got in touch with them and offered what I felt was affordable, I prefer to email regarding this sort of thing so I have a paper trail but then I suddenly got a letter today saying they have passed it back to HMRC and I can’t understand why? I engaged with them and offered to start paying back from this month?

Can you contact HMRC?

I've also had a an overpayment letter from another collection agency, LCS. I'm going to ring HMRC to check whether it's genuine.
