Finding I need to chase refunds much more

Anybody else having this problem? Obviously, I have been shopping more online over the last year, but recently have had to chase up refunds which are not appearing on my accounts within a reasonable time frame. I won't say the retailers unless anyone wants me to, but I am wondering why this happening.

No - I've done a bit of clothes shopping online and got refunds quite easily. I especially like it when I get a free returns label like with MandM direct and Gap etc

I have found Next awful with this recently. I never used to check but now I do.

MouldyPotato · 03/07/2021 07:38

I'm wondering if they just have too many to process? But yes I've had to chase Oasis and GAP.

I've returned quite a lot of stuff and everything has been processed within the given timeframes

BarbaraWoodlouse · 03/07/2021 07:56

Yes I returned three parcels to M&S recently. Same destination. Two were processed pretty quickly but when I chased the third the tracking was not yielding any results. They blamed Royal Mail which apparently had big outage issues. They did the refund based on my word as to what was in the parcel.

I had this with Next the other week.

I had a missing Next payment too, which I had to chase up. Swarovski said their refunds take up to one month to process.

Amazon are brilliant with refunds, as soon as the parcel is scanned at the post office, the refund is processed.

I've been doing too much on line shopping for years and have ever had a problem with anyone except one large department store which I've had to quibble with over what was in the package 3 times.

I can't say I've noticed it getting slower during lockdown, but I'm not generally waiting on the money. Was there something about them quarantining returned items?

Lots of companies have stopped putting a printed returns label in which is a faff. Just in case they're watching, I do take note and it does make me reluctant to order again.

DD waited about 6 months for a refund from Easy Jet, despite calling them repeatedly.

Mulletsaremisunderstood · 15/07/2021 10:23

Definitely noticed that earlier this year with ASOS, took ages for them to even acknowledge they had received the parcel back, even though the tracking showed they had accepted it in their warehouse.

Very annoying.

No, not really, I've sent things back to Next, Mountain Warehouse, Joules, recently and got refunds without chasing within the specified timescales.

The only problem I've had (multiple times) is Marks & Spencer who are painfully slow and I have had to chase them a couple of times. But then again, they're hopeless generally. It's a miracle if the actual items I've ordered manage to arrive in the first place. A couple of times, my parcel has contained things I've not ordered instead of what I did - not just excusable errors such as wrong colour or wrong size - on one occasion I got a pair of man's trousers instead of a summer skirt! It's also a stressful pain in the neck to try to get them to correct errors like that as they seem incapable of just sending the missing item and a return label/returns note for the wrong item you didn't order.

Wallis lost a parcel on me, the weekend their system went into meltdown, they kept asking me for my order number, I kept repeating that I couldn't give them an order number as they had relaunched their system without warning and all my data ( and everyone else's) was gone. No matter who I dealt with it was a real case of computa says NO.

So I kept up the dialogue until I was convinced that I has wasted at least the value of the item in Wallis man time,( £25) I am retired I have all the time in the world, and I have now stepped back and will never use Wallis again.

Everyone else is superb.
