HelloSmile

Im hoping someone can help me. My child recieves dla, he turns 16 this week. At the last renewal it was awarded until june 2022. I have logged onto my banking today to see a payment of less than what it normally is and a week early. Im wondering if this is because hes turning 16 is it the last payment. Ive had no letter to say its being stopped and we're in scotland so i thought sss had taken over the dla from dwp and it was when the child was 18 it was stopped.

Can anyone help?

I'm not sure whether yours will carry on as it awarded until next year, but DLA usually stops once the child reaches 16. They [ not you ] have to then apply for PIP. This can be incredibly difficult to get even if DLA is already in place.

You will need to contact them to find out what is happening.

Thanks for the reply. I phoned them this morning and they said its because he turns 16 this week the system has changed it from an child claim to an adult claim so it will still carry on, we're in scotland so it gets stopped when hes 18
