Matched Betting

I'd really appreciate some advice on matched betting. Is it really secure? I'm so scared of loosing money!
Can I start on just £20? Best website for a confused newbie?
Any other general advice?
Thank you.

Sorry, one more question! How much roughly a month do you earn a month from matched betting?

TeamProfit is good for free adviceand there are very helpful groups on FB - these are great if you have questions. There are paid services too - I use Profit Accumulator.

Yes - you can start small - I'd advise it actually as I really regret rushing at the beginning and losing some really good accounts before I knew how to best take advantage of them!

Take everything really slow to start and don't do anything until you flel confident.

Paris2019 · 19/06/2021 19:39

You will only lose money if you don't fully understand what you are doing and / or make mistakes. Therefore you MUST read all the guides again and again and don't jump in til you understand it. Team Profit and Profit Accumulator have good resources, Facebook groups and free trials. How much you can make depends on how much time you have and what sort of bankroll you have. I'd advise starting slowly. I just do it mainly as a hobby and make up to £300 a month for 1-2 hours effort a day.

Darbs76 · 19/06/2021 21:37

I’m around 2 months in and really enjoying it. I’m taking it slowly and have got around £800, great at the moment with the Euro’s and ascot

EmmaC78 · 19/06/2021 23:06

I started with £20 and made about £2000 in 7 months. I don't do it as much at the moment as have started to do the casino offers now I am gubbed by a few bookies but it would be fairly easy to make £300 a month. As mentioned above you can't lose money as long as you are following the process correctly.

Isitgiroday · 20/06/2021 13:43

@SoloMotherofFour Just starting out myself although not placed any bets yet. I'm using OddsMonkey and find their guides really good so far. Never place d a bet in my life so about be interesting!

Isitgiroday · 21/06/2021 06:56

www.beatingbetting.co.uk/matched-betting-tips/best-matched-betting-sites/ Good article here on sites you can use to get started. Don't think I'd fancy going it alone so I will be joining OddsMonkey. Betting Betting is a great source of information though!

I'm trying matched betting too and I'm currently having a nightmare with it!!

Used the beating betting guide but for some reason I haven't got my free bets from coral so I'm currently £85 down and not sure what to do next... 😬

The next 'guide' says you'll need about £115 for it. I didn't realise you'd need so much available cash to actually make a profit?! I'm maybe not doing it right but it's not feeling like I'm actually making money lol

I don't understand how you can be £85 down unless you've done something wrong.

Coral can be a bit slack on giving the free bets, so you need to go on their Live Chat and ask them politely to manually credit the free bets. But even without the free bets, their current welcome offer is 'Bet £5 get £30 free bets', so the most you should be down is the qualifying loss you took on the £5 trigger bet, which shouldn't be more than about 50p or so.

It sounds as if you've misunderstood something, so I'd advise you to go back and read the introductions and watch the videos on Team Profit to make sure you've fully understood what you're supposed to be doing.

StormcloakNord · 21/06/2021 19:51

Hi @Effzeh

Thanks for replying! I did end up going on the live chat and getting my free bets manually added.

The guide I was following said to deposit £10 to Coral (I ended up depositing £15 as the initial 10 I deposited was through PayPal which doesn't qualify 🙄) and deposit £70 to betfair...

I'm waiting on the things I've bet on coming through so I'm assuming when they do I'll have my £85 plus whatever profit I've made!? Just feels like a lot of money to be gone out the bank Shock

Ah okay, so you haven't lost money then, it's just in the bookies/exchange rather than your bank account. Phew. :)

Yes, once the free bets have settled you'll either have the money in the bookies or the exchange, and you should be £20 or so better off, depending on how much loss you took on the qualifying bet and what kind of odds you managed to get on the free bets.

Effzeh · 21/06/2021 20:40

And tbh I would advise having a separate bank account for matched betting transactions, so that you keep it completely separate from your normal money. That way it doesn't feel as if you've lost money when you deposit it into the exchange or bookies.

LegoLovin · 21/06/2021 20:49

Are the returns for this consistent long term, or is it a case of you make a decent amount initially and after that it's hard to continue such returns?

Effzeh · 21/06/2021 21:00

The welcome offers are easy money, and a great way to build up your bank.

But there are plenty of ways to make profit on reload offers after that. I make about £300-500 a month with minimal effort, and I haven't yet moved onto the really advanced offers like extra places.

The main way you run out of opportunities to make money is when the bookies restrict your accounts, which will happen eventually, although you can extend your run by being careful about how you use the account (Team Profit have good guides for all these kinds of questions).

LegoLovin · 21/06/2021 22:15

Thanks @Effzeh

Snappyteabread · 23/06/2021 22:06

Could you realistically do all your matched betting "work" on one day a week say a few hours on a Saturday or do you need to put in time and effort regularly throughout the week? Could I treat it like it's a Saturday job and only do it between 0900-1200 once a week?

Horehound · 23/06/2021 22:08

You need to put a lot of time and effort in to learn it quickly and do all the good offers. After that I found it very time consuming and also I started doing the casino ones and got addicted...
So be careful

StormcloakNord · 24/06/2021 07:51

Pleased to report I actually made £28 Grin doesn't seem a lot, but really all I did was learn something and click a few buttons so it's definitely worth it for pocket change!

I don't think I'll end up delving into reload offers. I just don't really understand them enough, though that might change if I keep doing this more.

Darbs76 · 24/06/2021 10:20

You could just do it on a Saturday but offers are throughout the week so you’d miss out on quite a lot. Doesn’t take long each day though

Effzeh · 24/06/2021 10:58

Hmm, obv you could, but you'd miss out on lots of the offers as things pop up during the week depending on what sporting events are taking place. And some offers require you to place in-play bets, and boosts are very time-sensitive so don't tend to stick around for long.

But once you get into a routine with the offers that you're comfortable with, it really only takes a few minutes each day, other than during the big events like Cheltenham.

Reload offers are often just more of the same. Eg within the Euros at the moment some bookies are offering bet £5 and get a £5 free bet so it’s the same as a welcome offer just not as generous!

I don’t think so as offers come up throughout the week so you would miss quite a few, especially now with the euros where offers may only be for specific matches. It’s not very time consuming to check each day. The most time I have spent on matched betting was during Cheltenham with a bet 365 offer- took me quite a while, but was quite lucrative so worth the effort.
StormcloakNord · 26/06/2021 10:47

@ShanghaiDiva ah I didn't realise they were similar! I'll keep going with those then if I can! Made another £23, and should make about £13 today Smile

Sorry to jump on this thread!
So I’ve dipped my toes - I’ve seen some people saying they are earning hundreds each month, I’ve managed to make 23£ today and it’s been such hard work trying to find free bets, then odds matching! Am I missing something?! It took me about two hours!

£23 in a day is a reasonable profit. If you did that every day you'd have £690 a month, so that's your 'hundreds' right there. If you only did it on half the days, you'd still have a nice topup to your regular income.

It's not a get-rich-quick scheme unless you happen to get very lucky on a casino offer. But it's fairly easy to make £300+ a month with minimal effort. The process of finding offers and boosts, and backing and laying bets gets much quicker with practice - most offers take a few minutes to do. Most people who do MB on anything like a regular basis will pay the £17.99 or thereabouts for Oddsmonkey or other oddsmatching software, which speeds the process up massively.
