Universal Credit

I closed my claim for Universal Credit today as my partner is now living with me. I presumed I would get paid up to the day before my partner moved in but it looks like they aren't paying me anything!! I'm not making a joint claim as my partners earning will be too high.

I am due a payment on the 25th May but it doesn't look like I'll receive it. Does anyone know if this is correct? If it is we are totally screwed this month.

If you report a change then the change takes effect from the start of the Assessment Period (AP) in which you reported it. No part month payments with UC. Sorry. So if you'd added a partner he would be added from the start of the AP you reported the change in regardless of the fact he may have moved in halfway through your AP.

Your circumstances on the last day of your assessment period are reflected in the payment seven days later. So your assessment period would be 19th-18th of each month. So if you reported the change before 19th it would be classed as a joint claim. Did you add your partner to the claim, because this is the only way his wages would be counted??

I didn't add my partner to the claim. I just asked for the claim to be closed. I stupidly presumed that I'd still be eligible for a part payment to cover me up to the day before he moved in. My partners earnings would be to high I would imagine anyway for us to receive anything.
